Fahrenheit in German

So I was just doing my German homework, and I realized something about... life.

Fahrenheit. The surname of some physicist somewhere, sometime. Also the scale we Americans still use that makes no logical sense but we love it anyway.

Anyway. German homework. I just realized.

Fahren = to drive
-heit = a noun ending for "a state of being," usually translated "-ness."

So. The state of driving? ...Driving-ness?

No wonder the Germans switched to metric.

......

Heheh~ You missed me, didn't you.

....don't answer that.
